On July 6th, Guildford Crown Court heard Richard Taylor admitting murdering Joe McMinn in a wooded area in Dorking in the early hours of March 28th. The Dorking man was subsequently convicted of the murder of his friend who he attacked after an argument. Mr McMinn stabbed him numerous times to the neck and chest, causing fatal injuries.

The 21 year-old defendant had claimed that it was the victim who brought the knife to the scene, but this was rejected. Judge Christopher Critchlow increased the minimum term of the life sentence from 15 to 25 years’ custody. Rowan Jenkins acted for the prosecution.
