Judgment has been handed down in a new case concerning bone density and fractures in young children where Martin Downs had been instructed.
Having considered international research on this subject, the Court declined to make findings that fractures to an infant were non-accidental in circumstances in which the child was hypertonic, had hyper-extensible joints and there were concerns about bone de-mineralisation against a background of a history of applying topical steroid creams.
