At Lewes Crown Court the defendant, now in his early 80s, was given 15 years for raping his school-age daughter over 7 years. Due to the passage of 40 years, and with the victim herself now in her 50s, the case was very challenging, with issues of abuse of process, ill health, delay and enduring damage.
