Catriona Murdoch has accepted instructions to act for Colonel Alphonse Nteziryayo, a defendant before the ICTR. Nteziryayo was convicted of a single count of direct and public incitement to genocide for speeches which he gave at various meetings during the 1994 genocide in Rwanda. He was acquitted of 8 out of 9 counts against him at trial and now appeals against the only remaining count. He denies all allegations against him.

Catriona will commence work in January when she will join Nteziryayo’s defence team, based in Tanzania and Kenya.”
