Christine Henson recently prosecuted a case concerning a malnourished dog on behalf of the RSPCA in Southampton. The defendants (mother and daughter) entered guilty pleas days before the trial was due to take place accepting that the dog had been suffering. The dog was examined by a vet and was found to have a body condition of the lowest scale (1/9). It made a full recovery to its ideal weight within 1 month under the care of the RSPCA. Both defendants were ordered to complete unpaid work and disqualified from keeping any animal for 5 years.
