He is regularly instructed in a range of common law matters (see below) with particular expertise in Property Law (with a particular emphasis on Housing law) and Personal Injury. He provides in-house lectures for Local Authorities, Housing Associations and local firms of solicitors in his specialist areas. Housing Law: Stuart regularly appears in a wide variety of housing related actions, with a particular emphasis on sensitive cases, often relating to anti-social behaviour. He is often 'Counsel of choice' to act on behalf of vulnerable tenants including those with mental health problems or other forms of disability in light of his particular expertise working with vulnerable people. Prior to joining Chambers Stuart spent 1½ years helping to develop advocacy support services in London to empower adults with learning disabilities and mental health problems. His sensible and compassionate approach is supported by his first-rate client care. Property Law: Complementing and extending from his substantial housing law experience Stuart is instructed in a number of wider Property Law matters in both the County Courts and Leasehold Valuation Tribunals (LVT), including cases involving Business Tenancies, Leasehold enfranchisement, Service Charge disputes, Management issues and so on. Personal injury: Stuart is regularly instructed in Personal Injury actions (including multi-track and fatal accident claims). Stuart takes pride in his pragmatic approach to resolving liability disputes and provides thorough, practical and where appropriate innovative advice – which often gets results. Common Law: Having developed the above specialism's from a solid foundation in general common law, Stuart has substantial experience of a wide range of common law matters and frequently receives general common law instructions. In particular, Stuart is often instructed in relation to Insolvency (both Personal & Corporate) and general Contract disputes. Stuart is a member of the Housing Law Practitioners Association and Personal Injuries Bar Association. In his spare time Stuart particularly enjoys travel, diving, jet skiing and is a member of his local gym.
