Profile
During his pupillage, Pritesh Rathod gained experience in a variety of practice areas, including personal injury, clinical negligence, professional disciplinary work, inquests, public law and VAT. He has a broad junior practice. He regularly appears in County Courts in a wide range of hearings, including small claims track trials, fast track trials, infant settlement approval hearings and various interim applications. His Court appearances are mainly related to personal injury and clinical negligence cases but he accepts instructions across a variety of common law areas. He has also appeared in the Coroner's Court to represent a family at an Inquest, the Bankruptcy Court (High Court, Chancery Division) to present or defend bankruptcy petitions and, the County Court and Supreme Court Costs Office for applications related to detailed assessment hearings. He undertakes a range of written work including drafting statements of case and advising in personal injury and professional negligence cases. In terms of professional negligence work, as well as clinical negligence cases, he has experience in accountants', bankers', builders', vets', solicitors' and insurance brokers' negligence claims. He has a particular interest in quantum issues and fatal accident cases and, has advised on quantum in a fatal accident claim issued in the High Court. Pritesh is keen to develop his Professional Discipline practice. He has been instructed by the Bar Pro Bono Unit to advise and/or represent doctors and he has represented a doctor at a two day Fitness to Practice Hearing at the General Medical Council. He has also been appointed to act as a Clerk to the Bar Disciplinary Tribunals by the Council of the Inns of Court. Pritesh is a Committee Member of the South Eastern Circuit and a member of the Association of Regulatory and Disciplinary Lawyers.
