ghulam.hussain@1cor.com Profile Ghulam Hussain joined Chambers in September 2003. Before this he worked for a local authority and then became a legal advisor in the Magistrates' Courts Service. He gained experience in all aspects of Magistrates' Courts' work including Road Traffic, Youth Court, Family Proceedings and Licensing. He has acted for and against local authorities in licensing and regulatory work leading to a Legal 500 directory recognition in these fields. He has been recognised as a leading junior practitioner in licensing by the Legal 500 Directory for each year between 2008 and 2011 inclusive. He acts for companies and individuals especially in cases involving road traffic and environmental crime. Ghulam has represented high-profile sports, business and political personalities in these areas. In road traffic, he is instructed by those simply trying to save their licences (speeding), those whose businesses require specialist licences and those who face long prison sentences due to causing serious injury or death by dangerous driving. His environmental practice is wide ranging too and he has been instructed on cases involving sea defences, burning waste, street works and statutory nuisance etc His regulatory work complements his criminal and licensing work. He has been instructed on breaches of fire regulations, building regulations, waste packaging etc Ghulam’s common law practice includes contract, tort and personal injury claims Ghulam is a member of the Criminal Bar Association, the Health and Safety Lawyers Association, Personal Injury Bar Association, South Eastern Circuit and the Sussex Bar Mess. When he has time, he enjoys football, badminton (L1 Coach), cricket, theatre and music.
